Front Pedestrian Braking

Buick’s Front Pedestrian Braking system helps you avoid or mitigate a potential collision by detecting pedestrians on the road directly ahead. You receive audio alerts when the system’s sensors detect a passerby in your path. Please note that the system only works at speeds below 50 mph and has limited performance at night and in other low-visibility circumstances.

However, if you react slowly to an alert, the system can engage emergency braking or enhance any hard braking you’ve initiated.

Forward Collision Alert

This system uses advanced radar to scan the road ahead while in traffic. If it detects an imminent collision with the vehicle before you, it alerts you with visual and audio cues so you can quickly act. In addition, the system provides a tailgating alert when it determines you’re following too close to a vehicle, creating an unsafe stopping distance.

Buick Encore GX Automatic Emergency Braking

Your Encore GX has Automatic Emergency Braking, which works with the Forward Collision Alert system to help minimize or avoid a possible accident. It works at speeds below 50 mph and engages emergency brake support or adds more energy to your current braking effort if it detects a potential collision.

Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning

Using cameras mounted high on your Encore GX windshield, the Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning system tracks your vehicle while traveling within marked lanes. The Lane Keep Assist provides subtle steering input when it detects an unintentional drift to remind you to stay in your lane. You may continue to receive Lane Departure Warning alerts if the drifting continues, reminding you to be attentive.

You won’t receive alerts when your turn signal is activated or the system detects you intentionally want to change lanes.

Following Distance Indicator

This safety feature displays the gap in seconds between your Encore GX and the vehicle ahead. Seeing the time in seconds will help you determine if you’re following too closely to stop safely and take corrective action.

IntelliBeam Automatic Headlights

Modern headlight technology now includes intelligent headlights that detect when a vehicle approaches from the opposite direction or your Encore GX approaches a vehicle ahead traveling in the same direction. Once it detects a car, this system automatically toggles to a low beam. When the way ahead clears, IntelliBeam switches back to high beam mode.

Buick Encore GX Adaptive Cruise Control

Buick’s Adaptive Cruise Control system allows you to maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. In addition, it automatically slows down and speeds your vehicle up again based on traffic flow while you steer, reducing driver fatigue.

Rear Vision Camera

With this feature, you can see behind you while in reverse. It projects a live video to your infotainment screen on the center dashboard. Dynamic grid lines overlay the video to help you determine the distance and direction of objects in your path.

HD Surround Vision

This system uses multiple camera angles to render a bird’s-eye view around your Encore GX. A split-screen displays this view alongside a front or rear view, depending on your direction of travel. It works at low speeds and helps you avoid objects while parking.

You’ll never have to worry about tight parking spots again with Automatic Parking Assist With Braking. This system detects parallel and perpendicular parking spots that fit your Encore GX and will steer and brake your car into that space. It informs you when to shift gears as it maneuvers into place with little or no help from you.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Rear Cross Traffic Alert is handy while backing out of parking spaces when your view’s obstructed. This system works at low speeds and can help you avoid backing into cars crossing your path while in reverse.

Buick Encore GX OnStar Services

Every 2023 Encore GX comes with three years of the OnStar and Connected Services Premium Plan, including the Connected Vehicle Plan and the OnStar Safety and Security Plan. You also get the OnStar Guardian app, which provides another protection layer.
