Whether you’re taking someone out for the first time or looking to rekindle a little of that old magic, you want the date to be special. Maybe you want a romantic candlelit dinner or perhaps something more upbeat, like a breathless night of dancing. Well, we thought about where we’d go on date night, and here are our top date spots in Fort Worth.

Wine Tasting at Rancho Lomo Vineyards

Nothing says romance quite like wine. So if you love sampling wine and noshing on a bit of light fare, you should visit Rancho Lomo Vineyards’ Fort Worth Wine Bar located in the hip Near Southside. Rancho Lomo Vineyards produces some of the best wine in the world right here in Texas, taking home nearly one hundred awards over the last decade.

Take your date to the Fort Worth Wine Bar on South Main Street and enjoy the retro-chic vibe as you sip on wine. You can order a flight of wine, sampling three or four award-winning varietals. They make crisp, refreshing whites from Viognier, Albarino, and Marsanne and smooth, bold reds from Barbera, Tempranillo, and Merlot.

Once you settle on your favorite, you can order a bottle and some small bites off the menu. The food menu doesn’t overwhelm you with its size, but it has something to pair with every wine. You can select a seasonal meat and cheese board or try the Mediterranean Board with olives, feta cheese, hummus, and toasted pita bread. You can take advantage of their outdoor patio on pleasant evenings and enjoy your evening under the stars.

Take a Cooking Class

Move over traditional dinner date. It’s time to take the cooking into your own hands. Fort Worth has many places that offer group and private cooking classes. Taking your date to a cooking class allows you to work together to prepare a delicious meal under the expert guidance of a professional chef. Most of these classes let you bring a bottle of wine or have a selection on hand for you.

We suggest visiting Cozymeal online to find the perfect spot. Cozymeal lists all the cooking classes in the area and provides menu details, locations, and pricing. You’ll find Italian, French, and Thai classes, as well as classic Texas grilling, vegan, and even brunch. Some chefs will even come to your home.

A Night at Billy Bob’s Texas

Billy Bob’s Texas has your country covered if you want to cowboy or cowgirl up. The world’s largest Honky Tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas, has live shows, dancing, and drinks to keep your date moving and shaking. Billy Bob’s opened in 1981 and has been a Fort Worth entertainment Mecca for all things country. With over 100,000 square feet, you’ll find everything from real bull riding to line dancing.

It’s so popular, the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association has named it the “Country Music Club of the Year” 12 times. When you arrive,
you can see the storied history in the concrete hand impressions of every entertainer that performed there, from country icons Garth and Willie to classic rock
bands Alabama and ZZ Top.

Food offerings at Billy Bob’s include your classic Texas barbecue, along with burgers, sandwiches, and other light fares. You can enjoy a finger-licking meal and then hit the dance floor. When you need a break, you can grab a drink at one of the 30 bar stations located throughout. Intimacy is achieved at Billy Bob’s through sheer numbers, as it holds up to 6,000 people. As a result, you’ll be able to join in with all the other couples enjoying a night out.

Ride the Grapevine Vintage Train

Rediscover the Victorian age on these authentic coaches departing from downtown Grapevine. In addition, they offer special holiday events like the Christmas Polar Express, a Sweetheart Wine Train for Valentine’s Day, and a Witches Brew Train for Halloween.
We suggest you try the Jazz Wine Train for a fun date. You and your significant other will enjoy the live jazz music while the train chugs along. Tickets include wine tastings, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and a souvenir wine glass. The event schedule changes every week, so check the schedule and reserve your spot ahead of time.

Sundance Square

You can do just about anything at Sundance Square, one of Fort Worth’s premier dining, shopping, and entertainment destinations. Date night can begin with a stroll through the many shops around the square before you take in a show. Bass Performance Hall offers opera, symphony, and concerts of all types. The Jubilee Theater and Circle Theater produce plays and musicals in a more intimate setting. Or you and your date can take in a movie at the AMC Theater.

If you love to laugh, you can see Four Day Weekend. This critically acclaimed comedy group performs every Friday and Saturday and puts on a fast-paced show that involves the audience. Hyena’s Comedy Club offers more laughter with an ever-changing list of comedians. You’ll see national sensations like Bobcat Goldthwait and Paul Reiser, plus up-and-comers, such as the hilarious Ryan Niemiller and Joe List.

No matter what type of show you decide on, afterward, you can eat at one of the dozens of restaurants around the square. From Texas steaks to Korean barbecue, there’s a menu for every palate. Then, after you’ve had your fill, we suggest a nightcap at the Reata’s rooftop bar overlooking the square. You can unwind with a craft cocktail and discuss how much fun your date was — and maybe make plans for another one.
