The 2024 GMC Terrain New GMC Pro Safety Plus Package Overview
Explore Enhanced Safety With the 2024 GMC Pro Safety Plus Package
The 2024 GMC Terrain emphasizes safety and reliability with cutting-edge technologies that keep GMC at the head of the pack. The Pro Safety Plus package sets a new standard for vehicle safety, giving you more awareness and control on the road.

New and Upgraded Safety Features
There are a few changes to the safety features in the 2024 GMC Terrain versus the 2023 model. However, GMC has promoted some features from separate options to standard inclusions. For the 2023 GMC Terrain, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and rear cross-traffic alert were separate options for the SLE, SLT, or AT4 trims. These features are now standard with the GMC Pro Safety Plus package, which makes getting the level of protection you deserve simpler than ever.
Advanced Driver-Assist Technologies
GMC Pro Safety Plus for the 2024 GMC Terrain includes all the features of GMC Pro Safety as well as:
- Rear cross-traffic alert: Rear cross-traffic alert activates when your vehicle is in reverse. It’ll warn you of traffic to the right and left of your car, helping to prevent collisions when you’re pulling out of a parking space and can’t see what’s coming.
- Rear park assist: Rear park assist enables you to easily navigate tight parking spaces by detecting objects behind the vehicle and providing an alert to avoid collisions.
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert: This feature lets you know if a vehicle is approaching or hovering in your side blind zone. It provides a visual alert on the side mirror to help you avoid collisions when you’re changing lanes.
- Safety Alert Seat: With the Safety Alert Seat, you’ll get advance notice of a potential collision so you can take defensive maneuvers. The driver’s seat will vibrate on the right, left, or entire seat, so you’ll know which direction the danger is in. Alternatively, you can set the Safety Alert Seat to deliver audible beeping noises.
- Adaptive cruise control: With adaptive cruise control, you choose the size of the gap you’re comfortable maintaining between vehicles, and this feature will take over your speeds to keep you moving as quickly as possible while maintaining a safe distance from the car in front. You’ll do the steering while adaptive cruise control handles the rest, eliminating the need to brake and accelerate. This way, you can relax and better enjoy your journey.
Together, these features significantly increase your situational awareness and response capabilities, making you less likely to have an accident. The Pro Safety Plus package also adds heated power-adjustable manual-folding mirrors with LED turn signal indicators to your vehicle. This feature is otherwise standard on the SLT, AT4, and Denali trims.
Integration With Vehicle Systems
GMC Pro Safety Plus builds seamlessly on the features and functionality of the standard GMC Pro Safety system, which includes:
- Automatic emergency braking: The automatic emergency braking feature works with forward collision warning to bring your vehicle to an abrupt stop, reducing the severity of collisions or even avoiding them altogether. The system provides hard braking and is limited to a maximum speed of 50 mph.
- Lane-keep assist with lane departure warning: This system provides a visual alert and gently turns your steering wheel to let you know when you’re drifting out of your lane. If you don’t correct the drift, the system will beep or deliver pulses to your Safety Alert Seat.
- Forward collision warning: This feature monitors what’s happening in front of you and helps prevent collisions. It lets you know if you’re following another car too closely, which increases your chances of getting into an accident, and warns you of the potential for a front-end collision so you can act fast.
- Following distance indicator: This feature monitors the distance between your front bumper and the rear of the vehicle in front and displays your following time in seconds on the instrument cluster so you know exactly how far away you are. The National Safety Council recommends keeping at least three seconds between vehicles and increasing your following distance in low visibility or hazardous weather conditions.
- Front pedestrian braking: Front pedestrian braking detects people in the area directly in front of your car and provides an alert; it will also provide hard emergency braking or enhance your stopping power to help avoid accidents. It works in daylight hours at speeds below 50 mph.
- IntelliBeam: These automatic high beams detect lighting conditions and surrounding vehicles and respond accordingly; they’ll sense both oncoming headlights and the taillamps of cars in front of you, providing powerful high beams as needed while dimming the lights appropriately for other drivers. The IntelliBeam system turns on high beams at speeds over 25 mph and turns them off when your speed drops below 12 mph.
The Pro Safety Plus package builds on existing Terrain features such as HD Surround Vision with multiple cameras and a rear camera mirror to give you total awareness of everything around you.
Enhanced User Experience
The Pro Safety Plus Package is highly customizable. You can set your preferred following distance, adjust the settings on the Safety Alert Seat, and customize your head-up display. The 2024 Terrain provides a perfectly personalized experience all around.
