2024 GMC Hummer EV New Technologies
Drivers can customize their experience using My Mode, tuning Hummer EV’s throttle, steering, suspension, and sound to preferred levels. In addition, GMC has added new features, such as Watts To Freedom, which accesses maximum torque, activates haptic feedback through the driver’s seat, and is enhanced by distinctive sound via the Bose audio system. And when you start Watts To Freedom, your dash reports the system is “armed and ready.”
GMC has also added a new satellite trail mapping system. Now you can use this new mapping technology to discover and navigate new trails. Your Hummer EV monitors its energy consumption in real time and can forecast usage, and all this data comes to your infotainment system or through the myGMC app on your smartphone. This information includes nearby charging locations and calculates the energy needed to reach them, so you never get stranded.
Perhaps one of the most significant technological additions is the power station generator. This onboard generator accesses your available battery energy for 19.2 kW AC charging or for delivering 120-volt/25-amp/3 kW of power. And you can use the generator to charge other EVs using 240-volt/25-amp/6 kW power output.
Every Hummer EV has a 13.4-inch infotainment system with the latest technology preloaded, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. There’s also a 12.3-inch driver information display to customize critical driving data based on your current adventure. Using these widgets, you can track everything from the ride height and eLocker engagement to compass headings and pitch/roll status.
The Hummer EV also has an in-vehicle energy app that monitors your energy use. The app lets you set up charging schedules and battery temperature conditioning, among other settings, from your touch screen. In addition, Hummer EV owners enjoy GMC’s digital key, which turns your cellphone into a key fob. You can remotely operate Hummer EV systems to activate approach lighting, unlock the vehicle, start your Hummer EV, and more.
GMC thought of everything when they built the Hummer EV, including navigating rugged terrain, so they created a high-definition surround vision system with 14 camera angles to render a three-dimensional image of your Hummer EV from above. In addition, an available UltraVision system adds underbody cameras with a remote washer function to keep views clear. You get the UltraVision system with the Extreme Off-Road package.
A series of GM switches installed on the dash allows you to add and operate accessories. You can install a trailer camera system, roof lights, an aiRoof’sressor, etc., and operate theEV’srough the switches. In fact, GMC has over 200 accessories designed specifically for the Hummer EV.
Not all Hummer EV technology focuses on off-road adventures. GMC equipped the Hummer EV with its newest version of Super Cruise, an enhanced cruise control system. Super Cruise enables hands-free driving on over 200,000 miles of road in the U.S. and Canada. In addition to keeping you in your lane, Super Cruise now includes an automatic lane-changing feature that detects optimal moments for lane changes and initiates them following proper signaling protocols.
2024 GMC Hummer EV Ultium Platform
Built on GM’s new Ultium EV platform, the Hummer EV has an interdependent body and battery structure. As a result, drivers enjoy the Infinity Roof’s open-air driving and Hummer EV’s anticipated best-in-class proportions for improved off-road performance.
This platform enables some of Hummer EV’s most impressive off-road systems, such as CrabWalk, which turns all four Hummer EV wheels for diagonal driving. Extract mode is another new technology that uses an adaptive suspension system to raise the Hummer EV’s ride height up to six additional inches to help clear obstacles. In addition, this system can lower your Hummer EV by two inches to improve aerodynamics for more efficient highway driving.
GMC’s Ultium platform uses a 20-module double-stacked Ultium battery that can travel over 300 miles on a full charge. Your driving range goes down if you opt for the Extreme Off-Road package. In addition, the platform utilizes a three-motor electronic four-wheel-drive system that taps into 830 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the Hummer EV rockets to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds.
Engineers installed an industry-first technology that switches the batteries from parallel to series mode during charging. As a result, when using 800-volt DC public fast-charging facilities, you can recharge at a rate of up to 300 kW, which can add up to 100 miles of range in only ten minutes. The Regen on Demand system adds energy back to the vehicle during braking. In addition, Regen On Demand can bring your Hummer EV to a complete stop without pressing the brake pedal.
Other EV technology includes one-pedal driving, which allows the driver precise stopping control using only the accelerator. And a Terrain drive mode captures the one-pedal precision for exceptional control during challenging off-road and rock crawling conditions.
