On Oct. 22, get ready to look up in wonder at the AllianceTexas Aviation Expo. Held at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport, you and your loved ones can enjoy aircraft displays, interactive and educational exhibits, and aerial acts by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. For aviation fanatics and casual viewers alike, this expo will be a great Fort Worth day.
Your ticket offers you admission to the Flight Line, a gathering of military and warbird aircraft for you to explore from up close, and the Landing Zone, which features exhibits, simulators, food concessions, kids activities, and a beer garden. Tickets aren’t available yet, but when they are, you can select premium seating options for the airshow and parking passes that allow you to tailgate the event. This will be a cashless event, so plan accordingly. You won’t regret a day spent at this expo.
Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering Fort Worth Stockyards
The Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering Fort Worth Stockyards rolls into town on Oct. 28 to Oct. 30. This “true, authentic Western experience” offers something special for Wild West lovers and those looking to have a great time near home. Stop in for a cowboy trapping and trade show and chuck wagon cook-off, both of which are free to the community.
Other events include a nightly rodeo, swing dancing, team roping events, country music, and a cowboy poetry event for those who’d like to show off their artistic chops. Tickets are available on a daily or full-weekend basis, with rodeo or entertainment-only options available. No matter how long you choose to spend at this festival, you’ll surely have an amazing experience celebrating some of the best Fort Worth has to offer.
Lone Star Film Festival
Get ready to get your film on with the 16th Lone Star Film Festival running from Nov. 10 to Nov. 12. While the list of official films hasn’t been released yet, you can expect a weekend full of screenings, discussions, craft talks, and film-focused events right at the Fort Worth Stockyards. If you’d like to get really involved with the festival, you can even opt for separate tickets for the festival gala on opening night and a gala/after party at the festival’s end.
While you explore the festival’s grounds, you can even check out restaurants and attractions in between films. Passes aren’t available yet, but you can select full-festival options or daily admittance. Brush off your critical lenses and participate in a weekend of your home state’s finest movie magic.
Fourth Annual Texas Cigar and Spirits Tasting
Taking place at the Panther Island Pavilion on Oct. 8, the Fourth Annual Texas Cigar and Spirits Tasting is a perfect excuse to leave the kids at home and enjoy the Fort Worth weather. This tasting event comes from the mind of Cigar & Spirits Magazine’s drink and smoke obsessives who have curated a fun event for serious fans and dabblers alike. Enjoy samples of some of the world’s greatest spirits and cigars all within the backdrop of fantastic food, live music, and giveaways.
And, you can even make a day of meeting up with fellow connoisseurs and friends new and old over a great drink or quality cigar. Early bird tickets for this event start at $50, which includes discounted cigar pricing and complimentary spirit tasting. VIP pricing includes early entrance, fun swag bag items, a year subscription to the magazine, and some additional cigar buying opportunities if you’d really like to maximize your day.
Art Worth Festival
If you’re excited about getting in on something totally new in Fort Worth, the inaugural Art Worth Festival will be right up your alley. This first-of-its-kind fest will take place on Oct. 21 to Oct. 23 on the lawn of the Will Rogers Memorial Center, which is the heart of the city’s Cultural District and in clear view of six museums. If the location’s not enough to get you in the spirit of your town’s art scene, this juried event for fine craft and art will.
Enjoy breathtaking displays from a variety of local artists and cheer on your faves as they go for some of the festival’s biggest prizes. Or, you can simply grow your appreciation for local art as you enjoy the festival’s classical music offerings and enjoy treats from food and wine vendors. This event, which aims to open up the floor for art appreciation and criticism to all Fort Worth residents, is a great (and free) way to spend a day or two in a living museum right downtown.
Tarrant County Harambee Festival
If you’re looking to connect with your community and neighbors, check out the Tarrant County Harambee Festival. In Swahili, “Harambee” means “all pull together,” and that’s exactly what this two-day festival is all about. Created by and intended for local community members, this is a great way to learn more about the place you live.
On the first Saturday of October, you and your family can experience food, music, and cultural awareness demonstrations right near the William M. McDonald YMCA in Fort Worth. The night before this free event, you can even check out the associated Annual Seafood, Chicken, and Blues Festival to complete your weekend. No matter if you come with your friends or stop by to make some new ones, this event will showcase the best of Fort Worth in a whole new way.
