The Fort Worth area has delightful highlights every season of the year. During the holiday months, several destinations around the city take on a distinctive glow as they unveil stunning displays of Christmas lights. These destinations make for a great date night with someone special or a memorable evening with the family as you take in the sights. Pick your favorite one or fill the season with excitement and visit them all. To help you choose, we’ve put together this list of places to find Christmas lights in Fort Worth this year.

Fort Worth Botanic Garden

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden puts on a delightful display for the season with a mile-long trail, known appropriately as Lightscape. The Lightscape display features light tunnels, singing trees, art installations, and even a fire garden. All told, the event features more than 1 million lights for a dazzling display. You can sip hot cocoa and toast marshmallows along the trail to stay warm and cozy throughout the experience.

Tickets are $28 for adults and $18 for children, while infants under the age of 3 go free. When you buy a ticket, you can select your entry time with options available every 15 minutes between 5:45 and 9 p.m. The entire route takes about 90 minutes to enjoy, although there’s no time limit, so you can browse to your heart’s content.

Fair Park

Dallas’ Fair Park will host the Enchant holiday light display for the second time in 2022. The theme for the year is “The Mischievous Elf.” Enchant will cover 10 acres, featuring more than 4 million lights, a 100-foot Christmas tree, and numerous activities to enjoy. Enter the brilliantly lit maze and see if you can help Eddie the Elf find his lost toys. If you locate all eight, you’ll get a special stamp on your Maze Passport that makes you eligible for an entry in the Hallmark Channel trip sweepstakes.

You can glide along the ice-skating trail through a glittering forest of Christmas lights, shop for gifts in the village marketplace, sample holiday treats and cocktails, enjoy live entertainment, and even drop in for a visit with Santa. Adults can stop by the Tipsy Tree Lounge for a spiked hot chocolate or Hallmark Channel wine. Children will love the Little Elves Play Place, where they can listen to stories from Mrs. Claus, craft Christmas tree ornaments, and play reindeer games.

Fort Worth Parade of Lights

The GM Financial Parade of Lights will celebrate its 40th year on Nov. 20, 2022. This breathtaking event features over 100 illuminated floats accompanied by live music and talented performers. At 7:10 p.m., Santa himself will start his trip around the parade route in a very special float.

The parade starts at 6 p.m. at Weatherford and Throckmorton Streets and moves east down Weatherford before turning south on Commerce. The route continues to 9th Street, turns west, then turns north on Houston Street, west on 2nd Street, south on Throckmorton Street, and ends at 3rd Street. It takes about 40 minutes for the parade to complete its route.

Forth Worth comes alive with holiday cheer throughout the entire day. There will be holiday displays, restaurant specials, festive music, and special shopping sales. Reserve your parade seats in advance to ensure a great spot. Tickets vary by section and cost up to $27.50 for adults and $25 for children.

Texas Speed Motorway

The Texas Motor Speedway will again host its Gift of Lights holiday display for 2022. This drive-through experience features a two-mile route sparkling with lights in a dancing show that draws viewers into the spirit of the season. The event doesn’t include its own music, so visitors are encouraged to put on their favorite holiday music in the car during the drive. It takes about 45 minutes to drive through the display.

Admission to the Gift of Lights is $35 per car and $60 for buses, RVs, and limos. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Dates: Nov. 24, 2022 through Jan. 1, 2023.

The Modern

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth features a seasonal display dubbed The Modern Lights. Trees across the grounds feature a dazzling display of lights in honor of the season. The trees will remain lit from Nov. 25 through Feb. 5.

If you visit on the first Friday of December, January, or February, you can also enjoy free admission to the museum galleries until 8 p.m. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., you’ll find live music, light bites, and drinks in the lobby. At 6:30, you can take part in a free 20-minute docent-led tour.

You can also experience this event by booking a table for Dinner with the Modern Lights on Fridays between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. You’ll be able to choose from a delightful range of dishes from the seasonal menu that has been thoughtfully curated by Chef Jett Mora for the holidays.

Dates: Nov. 25 through Feb. 5.

Highland Park Neighborhood

The Highland Park neighborhood in Fort Worth traditionally puts on a fabulous display of festive lights for the holiday season. You can view the lights by taking a casual cruise through the neighborhood or make the evening something special with a horse-drawn carriage ride. Carriages pick up passengers at the Central Commons for an hour-long ride through the neighborhood.

Location: 4711 Westside Drive, Dallas.

Dates: Through the holiday season.
