2023 GMC Canyon

Let’s start by comparing capacities between these two model years, including towing, payload, curb weight, fuel capacity, and ground clearance. It’s worth noting that the ATX4 trim is newly available in 2023, and we’re excluding the Denali 2WD, as that trim didn’t make it to 2023.

2023 GMC Canyon Tow Capacity

There’s only one trim with an increase, the AT4, which added 150 pounds, going from 7,550 pounds in 2022 to 7,700 pounds in 2023. Even though we don’t see increases elsewhere, the 2023 models still pack a major punch. The Elevation and Denali both offer a hulking 7,700-pound towing capacity, and the AT4X is capable of towing 6,000 pounds.

We’ll begin with the only decrease, which is the Denali 4WD dipping 70 pounds, going from 1,430 pounds in 2022 to 1,360 pounds in 2023. The AT4X still sits at 1,250 pounds. As for the increases, the AT4 gained 100 pounds of payload capability, jumping from 1,450 to 1,550 pounds. The Elevation 2WD also gained 100 pounds, moving from 1,550 to 1,640 pounds, and the Elevation 4WD jumped 90 pounds, from 1,500 to 1,590 pounds.
