The 2022 GMC Yukon Keeps What Works
The 2021 GMC Yukon was an all-new, redesigned model, with significant improvements on the 2018 generation. This year, the 2022 Yukon is largely the same as the 2021 model, with some key enhancements. This model keeps all the features that you loved about the 2021 Yukon, including its power and roomy interior. You’ll still get three rows of seating and 10-way adjustable seats in the front for both the driver and passenger. The spacious cabin dimensions and extra cargo space are the same as the 2021 model, as are the high-tech climate control system and safety features.
More Engine Choices for Some 2022 GMC Yukon Trims
Since the Yukon is a popular choice for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and drivers who haul heavy loads, GMC includes engine options for almost any situation. Just like in 2021, you’ve got a choice of three unique engine options with their own capabilities and fuel needs. The big difference this year is expanded availability of the 6.2-liter V-8, with its 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which was previously only available for the Denali. In the 2022 Yukon, this engine is still standard on the Denali, but you can also get it in the less expensive AT4 trim.
If the 6.2-liter V-8 isn’t to your taste, you’ve got two other engine options, which are standard or available in various trims. The 5.3-liter V-8 engine is standard on the SLE, SLT, and AT4 trims. This baseline engine produces an impressive 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. If you’re planning on using your new Yukon for towing, you can also get the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine in the SLE, SLT, and Denali trims. It produces 460 pound-feet of torque for hauling heavy loads, though its 277 horsepower is lower than the 6.2-liter V-8.
2022 GMC Yukon New Technology Integration Features
One of the biggest improvements to the 2021 model is the technological capabilities. The 2022 Yukon keeps all the technological features that drivers loved about the 2021 redesign, including the 12-inch digital gauge cluster. The cluster is now a standard feature, included on all trims. It was only an available option in the 2021 model, with an extra price tag. Having the cluster as a standard feature gives you access to all your important driving information, including gas mileage, tank level, and miles per hour, in an easy-to-read digital format that also features warning lights for key systems.
While the 2022 model keeps the 10.2-inch infotainment system that made the 2021 Yukon so popular with families, it adds a new Google built-In interface to all trim levels. This innovative technology feature gathers all of your contacts, events, map locations, and other information and puts it in an easy-to-use format, accessible from the infotainment system. The system links to your Google account, importing your contacts and calendar to your car. It also features access to the Google Play store, where you can download third-party apps for podcasts, music, and more.
2022 GMC Yukon Enhanced Standard Safety Features
For the 2022 Yukon, GMC changed several key safety tools from available options to standard features. In the baseline SLE trim, you’ll now get standard lane departure warning technology that alerts you when your Yukon leaves its lane unexpectedly. You can also enable a lane-keeping assist tool to help you navigate busy city streets or fast-moving highways. For this trim level, you can add available blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert tools to enhance your driving safety even more.
The blind-spot monitoring tool remains an available option for all trim levels, but the cross-traffic alert system is standard in the SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. Another safety feature added to the 2022 Yukon is child locks, which are standard on all four trim levels of this year’s model. The child locks are a key feature that makes the 2022 Yukon as great for families as it is for hard work.
2022 GMC Yukon New Standard Power-Sliding Central Console for Denali Drivers
The most impressive change to the Yukon’s interior affects the Denali trim. In the 2021 Yukon Denali, one of the most popular available options was the power-sliding central console, which gave drivers a secure storage compartment that’s only accessible when the SUV was active. GMC listened to the consumers, and in the 2022 Yukon Denali, the power-sliding central console is a standard feature, adding more value to the premium trim level. It’s the perfect way to store valuables during a picnic or tailgate, giving you the peace of mind you need to enjoy your outdoor adventure.
2022 GMC Yukon New Color Options
The last major change to the Yukon in 2022 is a cosmetic one. While the 2021 Yukon was already available in an impressive eight colors, GMC is adding another one to the mix, Redwood Metallic. This glossy, dark-copper color is both understated and luxurious. Here are the other colors:
- Summit White.
- White Frost Tricoat.
- Pearl Beige Metallic.
- Satin Steel Metallic.
- Hunter Metallic.
- Cayenne Red Tintcoat.
- Midnight Blue Metallic.
- Onyx Black.
