As GMC's most compact truck, the Canyon is ideally equipped for families looking for a touch more space or your DIY needs. You can choose from three engine options in the Canyon: a 200-horsepower V-4 that's perfect for day-to-day driving, a 181-horsepower turbodiesel that gives you the Canyon's best towing numbers, and a 308-horsepower V-6 that's great for towing and powerful acceleration. When properly equipped, the Canyon can tow 7,700 pounds.
Inside, the Canyon offers a comfortable ride for four people with the Extended cab or five people with the Crew cab. You can choose from either a short bed measuring 5 feet 2 inches or a longer bed measuring 6 feet 2 inches. The Canyon's standard entertainment setup features a 7-inch screen, six speakers, and smartphone compatibility.
The Canyon is available in four trims: Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. Not all engine options, cab styles, and bed lengths are available in each trim, so it's best to choose these configurations first before opting for a trim.
GMC Sierra 1500
If you need some more space or towing ability than the Canyon can offer, check out our inventory of Sierra 1500s. This full-size pickup has a base V-6 engine that puts out 285 horsepower, which will suffice for light towing and highway driving. If you plan on pushing the Sierra's 11,800-pound towing capacity, you'll want to upgrade to one of the two V-8s on offer. First, there's a 5.3-liter V-8 capable of putting out 355 horsepower. Alternatively, opt for the 6.2-liter unit with 420 horsepower to get the most power this truck has to offer.
There are three bed lengths to choose from, and your choice will probably depend on whether you intend to use the 1500 as a work truck or a passenger carrier with cargo space. The longest bed, measuring 8 feet, is only available with the regular three-seater cab. The shorter two beds, measuring 6 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches respectively, can be paired with the Double or Crew cabs, which can seat five or six people. The Double cab has adequate space for adult passengers in the rear row, while the Crew cab adds additional legroom for even more comfort.
You can choose from six trims in the Sierra 1500 lineup: base, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali. The AT4 trim is the one to go for if you plan on doing a lot of off-roading since it features hill descent control and skid plates. The Denali trim combines interior luxury with the Sierra 1500's brawny towing and hauling capabilities.
GMC Sierra 2500HD
If you need even more space and power for your commercial operations, or you just would like a truck that can handle just about anything, take a look at the Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD. The "HD" stands for heavy duty.
The GMC 2500HD features a base gas-powered 6.6-liter engine that churns out 401 horsepower. That's a lot by any standards, but if you plan on doing heavy towing, you may want to look at the optional diesel unit. It's a 6.6-liter V-8 that puts out 445 horsepower and is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Sierra 2500HD can tow up to 18,500 pounds and haul 3,979 pounds in its cargo bed, provided it's equipped with the diesel engine. There are a wide range of trailering features to help you pull the largest cargo loads, including an integrated brake trailer controller, trailering mirrors, and a trailering camera system.
Inside, the cab has a split-folding bench seat that can be replaced with bucket seats if desired. If you'll be using your truck to carry passengers, consider the Double or Crew cab options, which increase the seating capacity. The AT4 and Denali trims are also available for those looking for a standard four-wheel drive to tackle rough terrain.
GMC Sierra 3500HD
The 3500HD offers the same engine options but has even more towing and hauling capabilities than the 2500HD thanks to features like a double rear axle. Its towing capacity tops out at a whopping 35,500 pounds, while it can haul over 7,000 pounds in its cargo bed.
The two- or three-seat Regular cab is paired with a cargo bed measuring 8 feet in length that has over 83 cubic feet of storage. The shorter bed measures 6 feet 9 inches in length and is available with the Double and Crew cabs, which push passenger capacity to five or six, respectively. You can still pair a Double or Crew cab with the longer bed if desired. The trailering safety features available in the 2500HD can also be found in the 3500HD. You may also be interested in the surround-view parking camera system, which can make maneuvering a full-size truck like the 3500HD into a parking spot or lining it up with a trailer much easier.
